Moot Point Studio is a custom framing studio, gallery and creative space based in Blenheim, Marlborough.
Founded by Alex Kirkwood in 2022, the business brings together two long-standing interests: a background in engineering and a lifelong love of art.
After completing an apprenticeship under John at James Picture Framing, Alex discovered framing offered a unique combination of craftsmanship, problem-solving and design. The precision and attention to detail developed through engineering found a natural home alongside an interest in art, presentation and creative thinking.
What began as a framing studio has evolved into a space that also supports exhibitions, art sales and creative events.
Framing remains at the heart of everything we do. Every project is approached with a careful balance of design, preservation and practicality, helping clients make confident decisions about the things they value most.
Over the years, a curiosity about art has led Alex to spend countless hours exploring galleries, museums and creative spaces throughout New Zealand and overseas. Those experiences continue to influence the way artwork is presented, curated and experienced within the studio today.Whether you're framing a family photograph, building an art collection, exhibiting your work, or searching for the perfect piece for your home, Moot Point Studio exists to help people connect with art and live with it more confidently.
